Starfall Software Presents
RIGHT MOVE
==========
By Alan Hamilton
They said it couldn't be done, so I just *had* to do it. RIGHT
MOVE will enable you to "move" files on the Desktop using the mouse
button rather than the Control key, if you have TOS version 1.4.
TOS 1.4 added the ability to "move" files on the Desktop in
addition to copying them. "Moving" a file means that the file is
copied to the destination, then the original is deleted. With a
regular "copy," you end up with two files: the original and the copy.
The Desktop will do a "move" instead of a "copy" if the control
key is being held down when the file or files to be moved are dropped
into the destination window. RIGHT MOVE lets you hold down the right
mouse button instead of the control key to do a move. A "move" will
be done if you are holding down the right mouse button when you drop
the file or files to be moved into the destination window.
USAGE
=====
To install RIGHT MOVE, you can either run it from an AUTO folder,
or directly from the Desktop. RIGHT MOVE will briefly flash a message
identifying itself. RIGHT MOVE should only be installed once -- it
will warn you if you try to run it after it's already installed.
To move files on the Desktop, just be sure to hold down the right
button when you release the files you are moving. In other words, let
up on the left button, but hold the right one down until the "MOVE
FILE(S)" dialog appears. If it says "COPY FILE(S)" you let go too
soon. You can still use the control key too.
SIDE AFFECTS
============
RIGHT MOVE is only active while you are on the Desktop, so it
shouldn't interfere with any programs you run. It may have trouble
with certain programs that are resident in memory and that are active
while the Desktop is up. Possible problem programs are "macro"
programs that let you program a series of keystrokes into a single
keystroke, or Desktop enhancements (like Codehead Software's HotWire).
This isn't a problem caused by these programs, so don't blame them --
it's just because RIGHT MOVE alters the way the control key is
handled. You're most likely to encounter problems if you try to
activate these programs while holding down the right mouse button.
Since this isn't something you're likely to do, this shouldn't be too
much of a problem.
RIGHT MOVE is for TOS version 1.4 *only*. It will warn you if you
try to install it on a system that does not have TOS 1.4.
DISCLAIMER
==========
My obligations to you are the same as your obligations to me: none.
Although I have tested this program as best I can, I can't and won't
be responsible for any problems it may cause with your particular set
up. Use it at your own risk. RIGHT MOVE is in the public domain.
REVISION HISTORY
================
2-22-90: Version 1.0 released.
5-17-91: Version 1.1 released. The only change is a fix for a conflict
with John Eidsvoog's HotSaver. After doing a manual lockout with HotSaver,
the alternate, left shift, and control keys would act as if they were being
constantly held down.
